Tukoh Taka | Latest Official Single from the World Cup Qatar 2022

Nicki Minaj, Maluma and Myriam Fares have dropped their infectious and celebratory new World Cup song “Tukoh Taka.” Thriving on a jittery hook and a throbbing beat, the track — produced by Gordo, Play-N-Skillz and Massari — makes history as the first FIFA World Cup song featuring English, Spanish and Arabic lyrics.

“I am so happy to be part of this FIFA World Cup anthem! I always dreamt of an opportunity like this,” Maluma said in a statement. “Representing Latin music on this global track alongside amazing artists that sing in English and Arabic, takes our culture to another level.”

Meanwhile, Myriam and Maluma will also be taking to the stage in Doha to perform the catchy track live during the FIFA Fan Festival on November 19.

The title of the FIFA song appears to have been derived from different languages. Tukoh Taka is said to be the English translation of the Arabic term “knock knock” or “click clack”. And, taking into consideration that the lyrics of the songs are also in Spanish, Tukoh Taka also seems like a slightly modified version of the offensive football strategy popularized by FC Barcelona called “Tiki Taka”.

As Spielverlagerung notes, the phrase, which is also known as “Tiqui Tca,” is credited to Spanish broadcaster Andres Montes, who reportedly popularized it during the 2006 World Cup.

Tiki Taka is a style of playing football in which a team makes a lot of short passes and retains possession of the ball. The quick, incise, one-touch passing is branded as Tiki Taka, and we’re sure we’ll see a fair bit of that at the World Cup in Qatar over the next few weeks.
