Kylian MbappÉ – A Joke That Becomes Reality: “i Will Have To Destroy My Friend.”

No one would have predicted France meeting Morocco in the semi-finals of the World Cup before the start of the competition. However, Kylian Mbappé had daydreamed just that, last May during PSG’s tour in Qatar. The Les Bleus striker joked about the possibility of him lining up across from his PSG teammate, Achraf Hakimi.

The two stars of their country’s World Cup hopes, have become good friends in the capital city, but when the World Cup is on the line Mbappé joked that he would be forced to “destroy” his team mate if it came to it.

Many teammates become opponents at the national team level, but the Les Bleus striker seemed to look forward to meeting his club teammate on such a big stage. That image that Mbappé put in the universe has become a reality. Before playing Tunisia the striker even joked that, “We are here at the Education City Stadium … France-Tunisia, I hope we will win and then we will play against Morocco.”

In a moment that is now more special than when it occurred, Mbappé looked at Hakimi with a big smile and finished his joke by saying, “I will have to destroy my friend.” In the spirit of competition the Moroccan star replied: “I’m going to smash him”.

Anything can happen in the World Cup, especially when it comes to winning one match. Morocco has made history for African football. This game will mean everything to them. With Mbappé and France chasing their own historic win it will come down to single matchups and these PSG teammates going at it is one everyone is looking forward to.
