Benzema Announces Retirement from French National Team
Real Madrid star
Karim Benzema announced his withdrawal from the
French national team in a post on social networking sites.
Benzema wrote: "I made mistakes and worked hard to get to where I am today. I am proud of it. I wrote my story, and our story is over."
It is worth mentioning that the day he announced his withdrawal from the national team was his 35th birthday. Benzema made his debut for the French team in 2007. He played 97 times for the French team and scored 37 goals, ranking fifth in the national team's historical scorer list.
In this World Cup, Benzema withdrew due to injury. Although he finally recovered, Deschamps did not recruit him again.
